“The Fort” and "The Beautiful Princess" 2022 35X23 cm Screen printing, fusing and glass blowing. Glass, enamel, Iron and LED. The fort is part of my final project (B.F.A.), “Embroidered Anew” From the text of the graduate exhibition: “Only when I grew up, I find out that Grandpa Tuvia did not exist, nor did the lion. Both were figments of my grandfather's imagination. He managed to create an entire world made up of people and animals that would appear in the stories he told me. I didn't know what to believe and what not, reality and imagination were interwoven. As I crochet and weave my grandmother’s embroidery anew, I create images and imaginations, as if swimming between the threads, asking again- is it real?” In my final project, each one of my works was an expression to a different story that my grandpa told me as a kid. The piece “The Fort” refers to an old fort that was in my grandparents' village. Many of his stories were told to me there, and the fort seemed to come alive again. My grandma used to make embroidery. Inspired by her embroidery I created images of that fortress and printed it on a glass plate. I “painted” it with pieces of glass, made a fusing, rolled it up, and then blew it. I let the reflection express itself on the wall. 35X23 cm photo by michael shvadron and Oshrat Choen
